A small studio that answers the everyday what-should-we-do.
Flintcrate began with a question that came up at least once a week at our own tables — "what should we do tonight?" — and the slow suspicion that the answer was usually sitting in someone else’s hands, one neighborhood over. We started packing crates for friends, then for friends of friends, and now for a quietly growing list of households who would rather be surprised than plan.
Make the small moments feel like a chapter.
Most subscription boxes are built around the shipment. Ours is built around the evening after it. We design every crate to land as a complete, low-effort ritual — a recipe and a playlist for a date night, a printable map and reservations list for a weekend, a synced itinerary for two friends in two cities — so that the moment you open the box is the moment the plan is finished. You shouldn’t have to do any more work after the wax seal breaks.
Real humans. A sealed ritual. Nothing filler.
Every Flintcrate is read twice by an editor before it ships — once to assemble it, once to imagine you opening it on a Wednesday. We don’t algorithm-pick from a thousand items; we choose two or three objects from makers we have visited, paired with a printed piece that an editor wrote. The crate is sealed before it leaves our studio because the surprise is part of the design. There are no filler inserts, no upsell cards, no plastic film — and there never will be.
From a taste profile to your doorstep.
Read the profile
Every subscriber fills out a short taste profile once — twelve questions about how you actually spend an evening, not which brands you recognize. Editors re-read it before each shipment, the way a bartender remembers what you ordered last time.
Editors meet around the table
A week before a crate ships, the editorial team sits down with the season’s list of makers, the trip reports from the year’s travel, and the current profile pool. They pick a shape of surprise, then choose every object by hand — two or three of them, never more.
Hand-pack, then seal
The crate is packed at our studio, not on a conveyor belt. Each item is wrapped, the printed itinerary and map are slipped in last, and the lid is closed before a wax seal goes on top. Once it’s sealed, it doesn’t open again until you break it.
Ship, with the morning after in mind
The sealed crate ships the next business day with tracking that lands in your inbox the morning after dispatch. We hold gift crates at the studio up to 60 days so a gift lands on the morning you chose, not the morning it happened to ship.
